If you want to make a real difference to this wonderful native breed it is essential that you acquire pedigree registered stock. Without pedigree sheep you will not be able to register your own pedigrees and your progeny will not be included in the breed population data.
One of the best ways to buy pedigree stock is via our official sales; details of which can be found on our show and sales page. However, we can help you find breeding stock from within our membership at any time of the year.
When buying the vendor should supply you with a copy of the pedigree certificate, alternatively the ear tag number can be checked by contacting the association.
Bear in mind Lincolns are big sheep and will usually need some supplementary feed in winter on top of grazing. A sensible stocking rate would be 4 sheep per acre.
You will need a DEFRA holding number and UK flock number. Both are easily obtainable by contacting DEFRA also there is no charge for this service.
For a good pedigree ewe you can expect to pay in the region of £300. A breeding ram can be anything from £300 upwards.
